Welcome
Gazing out at this hazy morning, this blog begins as a journal to come and relax with while on a journey to learn.
Here's a little about my family and me: I'm 47 (I think, lol--unless I do the math, I usually don't really give it a thought) and we have 4 children. Our two oldest daughters (Tiger & Angel) are adopted from Korea and our two youngest were our foster sons whom we adopted (Buddy & Pumpkin). Their ages range from 17 to 5. Some of our kids have special needs which is always an adventure. My Sweetie & I have been married for over 22 years. We've been living in Oregon for that length of time, too, and absolutely love the nature that's all around us.
We live pretty simply and basically, doing lots of things from scratch, like cooking, baking, & gardening --and now spinning. We've been home schooling for over 13 years.
Our family has dealt with some pretty severe health issues over the past year and it's given us a new insight into the value of time and priorities. Family time and the moments we have with each other are the "things" that I find myself storing and cherishing. I thank God for these gifts and hope I'll remain mindful about how time's spent building memories, sharing life.
Our mini farm-like home is located in a suburban area on almost a quarter acre with a greenhouse, raised beds, 2 canals & a wonderful variety of waterfowl that come to visit. Our animals consist of a piggy, Lulu (aka Dachshund mix) & a goat, Kiki, (a Schnauzer-terrier mix). She's even got a beard! They're really just two sweet *spoiled* rescue pooches.
The name of this blog & farmette comes from my business name, Piece Mama (I'm big on Peace :-) and a nickname of Sweet P & we do indeed *grow* sweet peas. With those little peas tucked so sweetly into a pod, it makes me think of my family. So there ya go --now you know a garden-full about us. Post a note, so I can learn a little about you!
